GLTCRC Releases 2024 Annual Report
The Geriatric and Long-Term Care Review Committee (GLTCRC) has officially released its 2024 Annual Report.
Established in 1989, this multidisciplinary committee consists of respected practitioners across geriatrics, family medicine, psychiatry, nursing, pharmacology, dietary, emergency medicine, and senior services.
The Office of the Chief Coroner (OCC), through the GLTCRC, is tasked with reviewing all homicides involving residents of long-term care or retirement homes, as well as deaths where systemic issues or significant family and coroner concerns have been raised.
In 2024, the committee reviewed 16 cases involving 16 deaths, which resulted in the development of 80 system-wide recommendations.
Readers who wish to obtain the redacted narrative reports can do so by contacting the OCC at occ.inquiries@ontario.ca
