Family Councils 101

This training will provide you with an overview of Family Councils including the fundamentals of a Family Council, the steps required to start one, an introduction to the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act (2021) as it applies to Family Councils and best practices for Family Councils. It contains five sections and will take about 50 minutes to complete.

How to Run a Family Council

This course describes the characteristics of a Family Council, policies and documentation required for its smooth functioning, and strategies to maintain a Council once it is formed at your long-term care home. It contains four sections and will take about 60 minutes to complete.

Conflict Resolution in a Family Council

This training will explore the impact of conflict on the Family Councils, the reasons tied to and potential types of difficult behaviours that lead to a conflict, and strategies that can support Councils in managing conflict effectively. It contains four lessons and will take about 35 minutes to complete.
