Friends of Family Councils Ontario

Your donation helps amplify family voices in long-term care. While Family Councils Ontario receives core funding from the Government of Ontario, donations allow us to do more—to innovate, to build new tools, and to reach more families.

When you give, you help families advocate for the care and dignity their loved ones deserve.

Why Your Support Matters

Family Councils Ontario is funded by the Government of Ontario to support families and Family Councils—but donations enable us to go beyond the basics. Government funding keeps our doors open; donations create real progress.

Your gift allows us to develop new technology and tools that connect families across the province, expand outreach and training to more long-term care homes, and create resources that help families advocate with confidence. Donations directly support the development of digital platforms, workshops, translated materials, and guides that are always free and accessible to families. The more support we receive, the more councils we can reach — and the more impact families can have in shaping better care for their loved ones.

Your donation enables us to:

  • Build new digital tools and technology that connect families and Family Councils across the province

  • Expand workshops, webinars, and outreach to support more families and long-term care homes

  • Create and share education resources and guides that empower families to advocate effectively

  • Increase accessibility and translation so that more families can participate

Every dollar makes a difference.

We use Zeffy, a Canadian non-profit donation platform that ensures $1 donated = $1 received. Unlike traditional fundraising platforms, Zeffy does not charge transaction or credit card fees. That means your support goes entirely toward strengthening Family Councils and improving the long-term care experience. More connection. More resources. More reach. No lost fees.

When you donate, you’re helping families step into long-term care feeling informed rather than overwhelmed. You’re ensuring that families have access to tools, education, and support from others who understand the journey. You’re helping Family Councils advocate for change — not only for their loved ones, but for every resident in the home.

Choose One-Time or Monthly Giving

Whether you choose to make a one-time donation or become a monthly supporter, your contribution has a direct impact on families across Ontario. Every gift helps ensure that families navigating long-term care feel informed, supported, and empowered—not alone. Your generosity fuels the tools, resources, and programming that strengthen Family Councils and improve the long-term care experience for residents and their loved ones.

A one-time gift helps us respond to emerging needs quickly and effectively. It enables us to create new educational resources, deliver training or workshops when demand arises, translate materials so more families can access them, or step in when a Family Council encounters a challenge and needs extra support. These contributions give us the flexibility to act when it matters most, making an immediate difference in the lives of families and residents.

Monthly giving, creates sustained and strategic impact. Monthly donors provide reliable support that helps us plan ahead, expand our outreach, and invest in long-term initiatives like digital platforms, province-wide education, and new tools that allow Family Councils to connect and collaborate. By giving monthly, you help us move beyond simply reacting to the needs of families—you help us anticipate them and build solutions that will serve councils for years to come.

When you give monthly, you’re not just donating — you’re becoming a partner in this important work. You’re walking alongside families and residents all year long, helping ensure that Family Councils remain strong, confident, and impactful. Your commitment helps build a long-term care system where families feel heard, residents feel valued, and every council has the resources and support they need to create meaningful change.
