Words from Sam
I am so excited for the future at FCO as the new Executive Director! When I started with FCO back in 2008, I couldn't imagine where this journey would take me. All I knew is that I wanted to be involved in something that made a difference in people's lives and that long-term care was- and still is- a wonderful and fascinating field in which to make that difference. And 12 years later, I'm thrilled to see what is still yet to come and the impacts our work will have.
And, already I’m anticipating how much I will miss Lorraine. For the last 11+ years, we have worked hand-in-hand- for many years at desks less than 1 metre apart! - through the easy times and the hard. And there is no doubt that we have been this successful because of our strong working relationship- and friendship. I sincerely thank Lorraine for the laughs, the support throughout challenging times, her hard work to establish FCO and set us up for success, and everything else I have learned from her. Thank you, dear friend, and best of luck in the next chapter of your life!
In my years with FCO, I have seen incredible changes in long-term care; worked with thousands of Family Council members, home staff, government and community stakeholders; helped grow FCO into what it is today; had the pleasure of working with my amazing fellow staff members Tiffany and Natacha; and been greatful for the ongoing support of a wonderful board of directors. I’m excited to continue to do our amazing work and lead FCO into the next chapter of our story.
In the coming weeks, we’ll announce plans to hire a new staff person to take on my education portfolio. Stay tuned for the details!
I’m excited for what’s to come and am fully committed to FCO’s continued impact in the long-term care sector. I look forward to working with all of you in the weeks, months, and years to come!
