LGBT Toolkit: Culturally Competent Care for 2SLGBTQ+ Seniors
A practical toolkit created by Toronto Long-Term Care Homes & Services, in partnership with Rainbow Health Ontario, to help long-term care homes provide welcoming, inclusive, and affirming care to 2SLGBTQ+ residents.
Why This Toolkit Matters
Many older adults in long-term care identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer—and many do not feel safe disclosing their identities to staff due to fears of stigma or discrimination. The LGBT Toolkit addresses this by offering guidance, training, and resources to help care homes become more inclusive, respectful, and culturally competent.
